The original purpose of the Connquest domain was to serve as a web design  company. We built and managed some web sites for the first couple of years. 

The main concern of web site owners was once thier site was online, how would they attract visitors? Generate sales? Generate leads? 

"Build it and they will come" definately does not apply to web sites. In fact, web marketing is an almost entirely different business than web site design and web site hosting. I say "almost" because your web site designer must know some Internet marketing in order to make the proper changes to your web site. Simply put, if you submit the same web site to the search engines you will get the same results.

In addition to wanting more visitors business (web site) owners also have additional needs. Demographics is very important. Connecticut businesses serving specific regions of Connnecticut have a need for a specific targeted audience. Likewise, CT businesses that offer products and services statewide need an entirely different type of exposure. I could go on for hours about this and how secure online sales nationwide from a CT business would have different requirements. In addition to the need for nationwide exposure they will benefit the most from targeted advertising by topic. Online businesses without a physical location seek topical advertising only. Brick and mortar companies (with a physical location) need both forms of exposure, by topic and location.

The point...
You can have the prettiest site on the Internet but if it does not receive interested visitors, the site and your investment will just sit there uselessly.

Quick Fact: The average web site sits near stagnant for about three months before the owner stops wasting money to host it and pulls the plug.

Another fact: The average site with a modest amount of advertising receives less than 300 visits a month.

Oh... back to About ConnQuest. The overwhelming need for demographic exposure and our Quest to fullfill the need made the ConnQuest domain evolve into a major Connecticut Internet portal. It has thousands of CT web sites organized by both topic and location. 

Now if we build a web site (web site design) we can generate traffic (web site marketing) and results (successful web sites).

Now if we want to promote a site by topic or region in CT we have a solid base of traffic and stability.

Before we sold ad space we wanted to test it out. We then added links to a variety of affiliate programs. We did this in a way that would not compromise the site by avoiding pop up ads, and other intrusive ad tactics.  The small amount of ads we have are in highly targeted locations so our visitors would only encounter them if that is exactly what they are searching for. Not only does this make surfing out site easy (without annoying banner ads or pop up windows), but it also delivers great results (high sales ratios) to our ads.
